Take a field of 8 ha once occupied by a Cistercian abbey. On this ground, a complex of
buildings built between 1930 and 1937.
We have two hours for the visit. This long will it be enough ? Nay !
During that time, we could see only part of one of the buildings. Suffice to say that a new visit is required.
The complex is mostly built during the inter-war in modernist in style, although an
additional building was erected in 1965.
Yet only two years later, the university began to migrate its activities to a larger site, the death of the site is already
programmed... The last students have deserted corridors in 2006.
Since then, an administration has taken possession of the newer building while the rest of the complex must be renovated and
converted into dwellings. Begin of work planned some day in the indefinite future.
Obviously, the site quickly became a giant squat and a supermarket for thieves in the area. However, the details are still present
everywhere and walk the long corridors remains a pleasure.
As always, a forgotten chair.
Although the complex is in modernist style, some details reminiscent of Art Deco.
