For several months, I came regularly to Blankenberge at night.
But why this particular sea resort ? Simply because it's the one I know best. In addition, I spent a lot of years being young, logical
that I am attached.
But this time, I took my camera with me.
Coat of arms of Blankenberge
This gallery presents my first night shots. Result deplorable, I will have to train a bit... And to make matters worse, a
very violent wind further degrades the camerawork conditions. But either, I have to start one day, right ?
Otherwise, the lack of people in the streets and on the dike made me happy. Finally, I like bad weather.
Welkom op from Belgische Kust !
Nice contrasting sky, calm before the storm.
The Pier approaching.
The Casino. Rebuilt between 1932 and 1934, it was made ugly and "updated" recently. From the original style, only the silhouette of the building remains.
The ugliest coastline of the North Sea...
One of the few old buildings to resist. But it doesn't have any longer.
Under the bridge of the Pier, in full wind.
The Blankenberge Pier. Unique construction on the Belgian coast, it was inaugurated in 1933 and replaces the original Pier (1894) destroyed by the Germans in 1914. It was renovated in depth and reopened in 2003. The building was totally denatured.
The new bridge of the Pier. Not really recommended for those who suffer from vertigo. Closed now because of the damage caused by the storm.
In the distance, the harbour of Zeebrugge.
One of the few places on the coast spared by real estate speculation, between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge.
Clouds pile up on the dike.
Monument to the glory of fishermen, at the foot of the lighthouse.
Flood of light on the Franchommelaan.
If I was expecting that : a fanfare in the Kleine Weststraat...
... followed by some brave ones braving the bad weather.
Koning Leopold III Plein.
Back home.
